His criticism turned sour for the treasury benches, as Sindh Excise and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla resorted to counter allegations and then there was complete mess. Speaker Aga Siraj Durrani tried to calm down the lawmakers by expunging the inappropriate language in the august house. Both lawmakers never shied away from serious accusations against each another.
The legislature plunged into chaos after Aleem Adil Shaikh said that the killing of police personnel from deteriorating law and order in Shikarpur widely transpired the peace claims in the province. It seems someone is being supported there." He said that a local Sindhi singer Jigar Jalal was also kidnapped, adding that a private TV channel reached the kidnapped singer but police could not. "Why does not the government use the Rangers to carry out operation in Shikarpur," he questioned, accusing the Sindh government of patronizing dacoits. His remarks left the house in pandemonium.
Shaikh also accused Chawla of spreading drugs and alcohol in the province. In reply, the excise minister said that "everyone knows of your [Shaikh's] fame for illegal land occupation," adding that he will also be made accountable for his crimes. The remarks continued to stir up protest from either side, especially the treasury, as the PPP lawmakers stood from their seats to chant various slogans.
In the meantime, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh said that the government is serious in tackling the law and order issues and steps have been taken that helped improve the situation. He said that in some districts law and order situation deteriorates but the government never backed crimes ever, nor it trimmed police powers. He said that 22 people have been killed in Shikarpur in one month. The house is scheduled to discuss an adjournment motion of PTI's Khurram Sher Zaman Khan on Friday regarding the poor law and order situation in Karachi.
